PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine which detects the presence/absence of a failure (such as a packet loss) peculiar for a digital line and automatically discriminates an extent of the failure in order to perform control for continuing a communication and satisfactorily performing reception even in the case where a communication failure peculiar for the digital line occurs.SOLUTION: A multifunctional machine (100) is functioned as a facsimile machine which detects and deals with the communication failure of the digital line. The multifunctional machine includes: a modem (21) which calculates an EQM value indicating a communication quality from a received signal; a storage section (15) which stores a discrimination criterion for discriminating the communication failure of the digital line in accordance with temporal fluctuation of the EQM value; and a main control section (11) by which the communication failure of the digital line is discriminated on the basis of the temporal fluctuation of EQM detects by the EQM detection section and the discrimination criterion and if there is the communication failure, a communication condition is changed in order to suppress the communication failure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
