The invention relates to an actuator (1) for a clutch of a motor vehicle, comprising a release mechanism (3) secured to a clutch housing (2), said release mechanism (3) comprising a release mechanism housing (4) with a piston (5) and said release mechanism housing being connected to a pressure plate (6). Upon actuation of the release mechanism (3), the piston (5) can adjust the release mechanism housing (4) relative to the clutch housing (2) such that the pressure plate (6) can be pulled against a spring element (7) by means of the release mechanism housing (4).
