PSEUDO RANDOM GUIDED FINGERPRINT ENROLMENT

Fingerprint enrolment is described. An initial procedure in which the appropriate area of the finger is determined from the size of a user's finger, followed by a guidance procedure where guidance information is provided in a pseudo random manner and further fingerprint data is obtained during the pseudo random guidance. When the appropriate area of the finger has been covered, fingerprint data is used in a calculation of fingerprint enrolment data that can be used in subsequent steps in the enrolment procedure.
