Disclosed are an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus capable of generating a harmonic image and a method for generating an ultrasonic image including a harmonic image. The disclosed ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus transmits an ultrasonic signal having a fundamental frequency component and one or more harmonic components at the same time to a subject, and thus can increase the size of the harmonic components in an ultrasonic echo signal which is reflected from the subject and received. Therefore, the quality of a harmonic image can be improved.
