PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder firmly bonding aluminum with lithium cobaltate and carbon black, less deteriorating adhesive strength even at high temperatures, and suitable for a lithium ion secondary battery from which high output can be taken out.SOLUTION: A binder for a lithium ion battery positive electrode contains a polyimide including a residue of diamine represented by the formula (1) in an amount of 20-40 mol% of the total diamine residue and/or a polyimide precursor including the residue of the diamine in an amount of 20-40 mol% of the total diamine residue.
