PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lower power display having improved luminous efficiency.SOLUTION: An optical cavity 200 for use in a spatial light modulator includes a front reflection surface 202 and a back reflection surface 204. The front reflection surface 202 includes an array of light transmission areas 206, and light 208 can escape from the optical cavity 200 through the light transmission areas 206. The light 208 enters the optical cavity 200 from one or more light sources 210. The light 208 is reflected between the front and back reflection surfaces 202 and 204 until the light 208 is reflected through one of the light transmission areas 206.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A |
