An electric motor comprises a stator operable to produce a magnetic field, the stator defining an opening; and a rotor at least partially disposed within the opening. The rotor (50) comprises a shaft (55) extending along a rotational axis; a magnetic core portion (65) supported by the shaft (55). The magnetic core portion (65) comprises a plurality of laminations (107, 108) and a plurality of windings (40) supported by the laminations (107, 108). The windings (40) are configured to produce a magnetic field when an electric current passes through the windings. The laminations comprise a first type of lamination (107) and a second type of lamination (108) which is different from the first type of lamination. |
