[Also in Division C7] Process for the electrolytic hydrodimerization of anα,#-ethylenic compound e.g. nitriles, aldehydes, acrylates and acrylamides which comprises subjecting to the electrolysis, in a cell having a single compartment, a homogeneous aqueous solution of the saidα,#-ethylene compound and an electrolyte consisting of a quaternary ammonium salt of an oxidized mineral acid not capable of being oxidized into a product capable of harming the reaction, or reduced (preferably from 5 to 30% by weight of the solution subjected to the hydrolysis) under the electrolysis conditions, the concentration of the said ethylenic compound in the reaction medium being below 10À5% and the pH of the electrolysis solution is preferably between 6 and 10.</p> |
