PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of obtaining a molding body having a crush strength enough to use on an industrial scale in a magnesium oxide molding body used as a solid catalyst such as a carrier of a reforming catalyst of hydrocarbon or a solid basic catalyst, and its molding body. SOLUTION: Magnesium oxide granules are formed by dry-consolidation molding magnesium oxide powders, and by mixing 0.1-5.0% carbon to the magnesium oxide granules, and at the same time, adding 0.1-8.0% moisture, making-tablet raw materials are obtained.
