An apparatus and a method for implementing access authentication of mobile phone in wireless local area network are provided, which comprise a mobile phone that integrates WLAN module and WAPI authentication module and a SIM card installed in the mobile phone; a space is formed in the SIM card for storing a digital certificate; firstly, the digital certificate is stored in the SIM card; the mobile phone associates to the access point, the access point activates the authentication; the WAPI authentication module reads the digital certificate from the SIM card and sends it to the access point, the mobile phone accesses the wireless local area network after the authentication is finished between the mobile phone and the access point. The present invention brings forward a mobile phone can be as a WLAN entity terminal using the way that the digital certificate is stored in and taken from the SIM card, the WAPI mobile phone realizes the management and authentication when WLAN mobile phone accesses WLAN, avoids the inconvenience brought by a user to rewrite the digital certificate while changing the phone, and can facilitate air downloading of the digital certificate and initiative updating by the user.
