PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine having a cooling structure capable of improving the heat balance of a cylinder head and obtaining the uniform cooling efficiency of cylinders. SOLUTION: The engine is a multicylinder engine 1 including a cylinder block 10 having a cooling water introduction passage 12 extending substantially in parallel with a crankshaft 4, the cylinder head 30 having a cooling water discharge passage 32 extending substantially in parallel with the crankshaft 4, and a cooling water inlet 11 and a cooling water outlet 33 provided at ends of the cooling water introduction passage 12 and the cooling water discharge passage 32 on the same sides with respect to each other. Cooling water flow passages 31a, 31b, 31c, 31d for making the cooling water introduction passage 12 communicated with the cooling water discharge passage 32 are formed for the cylinders 2 above a combustion chamber 15. The cooling water flow passages 31a, 31b, 31c, 31d become lower in height as they are apart from the cooling water inlet 11 and the cooling water outlet 33. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
