A tag (30) for a radiofrequency identification communication system, the tag (30) comprising an antenna (31) for receiving a radiofrequency signal and an integrated circuit (35) connected to the antenna (31), the integrated circuit (35) comprising: a modulator (34) configured to modulate a signal transmitted by the antenna (31); a controller (33) configured to provide a modulation signal to the modulator (34); and a power module (32) configured to generate a power supply for the controller (33) from the received radiofrequency signal, wherein the modulator (34) comprises an adjustable impedance circuit configured to selectively reduce the depth of modulation of the signal transmitted by the antenna dependent on the modulation signal provided by the controller (33).
