<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove noise in a captured image efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: The noise removal device comprises a local noise variance calculation unit which selects each pixel of a captured image as a target pixel sequentially, and calculates a first noise variance of the target pixel in a prescribed pixel region including the target pixel from the image signal of the target pixel and the image signal of a peripheral pixel of the target pixel, a total noise variance update unit which updates a second noise variance in all pixel regions of an image sensor at a prescribed timing based on the first noise variance, noise removal amount determination means for determining the amount of noise to be removed for the image signal of the target pixel based on the first noise variance and second noise variance, and a noise removal means for removing noise from the image signal of the target pixel based on the amount of noise removal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
