<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain good fixability in a high-speed fixing mode in a method of fixing by applying pressure simultaneously with irradiation with a laser beam.SOLUTION: A fixing device includes: a transparent member 1 that is formed of a transparent material through which a laser beam Bm can transmit so as to be rotatable; an opposing member 2 that is provided opposite to the transparent member 1 to form a contact area n with the transparent member 1 and moves and conveys a recording material 10 in cooperation with the transparent member 1 in the contact area n; a laser beam irradiation device 3 that is provided outside or inside the transparent member 1 and irradiates the inside of the contact area n between the transparent member 1 and opposing member 2 with the laser beam Bm; and a light focusing member 4 that is provided inside the transparent member 1, presses the transparent member 1 against the opposing member 2 in the contact area n, and focuses the laser beam Bm, which is radiated from the laser beam irradiation device 3 toward an image G on the recording material 10, on the upstream side of the contact area n in a conveyance direction of the recording material 10.
