发明名称 Improvements in or relating to the treatment of textile filaments, yarns, threads, or the like
摘要 332,263. British Celanese, Ltd., and Taylor, W. I. Jan. 11, 1929. Printing yarns, threads, and the like; inkless printing by chemical reaction; resist printing. - Artificial filaments, yarns, threads, ribbons, tapes, straws, &c., obtainable by extrusion from solutions of cellulose acetate or other organic esters of cellulose, and adapted to give intermittently coloured, multi-coloured, or cross-dyed effects on subsequent dyeing, are obtained by applying a saponifying agent at intervals along their lengths, while they are travelling, and preferably continuously with their production. Suitable saponifying agents are aqueous, alcoholic, or other solutions of caustic soda, caustic potash, sodium or potassium carbonate. sodium silicate, or trisodium phosphate, e.g., 2-10 per cent of caustic soda in a mixture of equal parts of methyl alcohol and water. To prevent spreading of the saponifying agent the filaments &c. may be subjected to a preliminary treatment with aluminium acetate. The saponifying agent may be applied by methods similar to those employed according to Specification 325,823, [Class 2 (ii), Cellulose &c.], for applying a solvent or softening agent, or by printing the filaments &c. by means of an embossed or indented roller to which the saponifying agent is supplied in liquid or paste form. Apparatus suitable for applying the saponifying agent in an operation continuous with the production of the filaments &c. is shown in Fig. 1. The filaments 6, drawn by a feed roller 7 from the dry-spinning cell 5, pass by a guide 8 to the cap-spinning apparatus 9, and between the roller 7 and the guide 8 they contact normally with a wick 10 supplied with saponifying liquid from a container 11, fitted if necessary with a heating pipe 15. The filaments are lifted at intervals clear of the wick 10 by radial arms 13 on a rotary shaft 12. and, if desired, by other radial arms 17 on a second rotary shaft 16, the ends of the arms being grooved to engage the filaments. Apparatus suitable for simultaneous treatment of a large number of threads is shown in Fig. 4. The threads 18 in travelling from bobbins 19 to a beam 28 contact intermittently with peripheral slats 22 carried by a drum 21, the slats being covered with fabric supplied with saponifying liquid by endless bands or wicks 23 passing under a rod or roller 24 immersed in the liquid in a trough 25. The treated threads are dried, if necessary, by passage over a heated plate or chamber 26. According to the Provisional Specification the substance applied at intervals to the filaments &c. may be a loading agent, a mordant, a discharge, a dyestuff, or a reserve, and the invention is applicable to textile filaments, yarns, or threads generally. The loading may be effected as described in Specifications 258,874; 260,290; 277,602; 281,084; or 285,941, [all in Class 120 (iii), Yarns &c.].
