PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify the incident timing of a light beam to a light-receiving unit.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 includes a photoreceptor 50, electrifying means 12 for electrifying the photoreceptor, an optical scanner 40, and developing means 13 for applying a voltage for developing an electrostatic latent image to a toner carrier. The optical scanner includes a light source 17 for emitting a light beam L, a rotary polygon mirror 42 including a plurality of reflection surfaces deflecting the light beam, so that the light beam scans the photoreceptor, light-receiving means 97 for receiving the light beam deflected by the plurality of reflection surfaces and generating a first signal for determining the emission timing of the light beam, and signal generation means 207 for generating a second signal, according to the rotational phase of the rotary polygon mirror. The incident timing to the light-receiving unit of the light beam deflected by the plurality of reflection surfaces after the photoreceptor is electrified and the voltage is applied to the toner carrier is specified on the basis of the number of the second signals generated between the first signal before the photoreceptor is electrified and the voltage is applied to the toner carrier and the first signal. |
