<p>The present invention relates to a shim plate (4) intended for mounting in cutting tools (1) for rotary chip removing machining, where the cutting tool comprises a basic body (2) having a rotational axis C, a peripheral envelope surface (5) concentric with the rotational axis, a front end surface (6), and at least one insert seat (9) comprising a seat surface (10). The basic body is rotatable in the direction of rotation R and arranged to, in each insert seat against the seat surface, receive a shim plate and a mountable cutting insert (3) adjacent to the shim plate. The shim plate comprises a bottom surface (4a) intended to adjoin to the seat surface of the basic body and a contact surface (4b) opposite to the bottom surface and intended to adjoin to the cutting insert as well as at least one side surface that extends between the bottom surface and the contact surface. According to the invention, in a radial cross-section (X) orthogonal to the rotational axis and traversing the shim plate, an imaginary straight line (a) associated with the bottom surface of the shim plate and an imaginary straight line (b) associated with the contact surface of the shim plate should diverge toward the envelope surface of the basic body and form an angle ± with each other. The invention also relates to a cutting tool adapted for the use of shim plates according to the invention.</p> |
