PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the recognition accuracy of a number of seven segments.SOLUTION: An image processing method according to this invention includes a procedure for acquiring a binarization image including an image of a number composed of a plurality of segments separated from one another, a procedure for generating an expansion image by expanding each of the segments included in the binarization image until coming into contact with an adjacent segment, and a procedure for recognizing the number included in the expansion image to output number information. The image processing method may execute a procedure for generating a contraction image configured from a line thinner than the width of a line constituting the expansion image by removing a portion of pixels from a plurality of pixels included in the expansion image after generating the expansion image, recognize the number included in the contraction image and output number information.
