PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an additive for a nonaqueous electrolyte which, when being used for a power storage device, forms a stable solid electrolyte interface on an electrode surface and thereby can suppress generation of gas due to electrolyte decomposition on a positive electrode; a nonaqueous electrolyte containing the additive for a nonaqueous electrolyte; and a power storage device including the nonaqueous electrolyte.SOLUTION: An additive for a nonaqueous electrolyte contains a thioamide compound represented by formula (1) and having the highest occupied molecular orbit energy of -6.8 to 3.8 eV and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbit energy of -2.7 to 0.0 eV.
