PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to properly detect that an image has been formed on a recording material having relatively high moisture absorption rate, to appropriately prevent moisture vapor from being generated, and to remove the generated moisture vapor.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 includes an image carrier 1, a transfer member 5, application means 5a, and heating means 16, to execute a series of image forming operation on one or a plurality of recording materials P in response to one start instruction. The image forming apparatus 100 includes: detection means 5b which applies a voltage to the transfer member 5 by means of the application means 5a, to detect a value correlating with electrical resistance of the transfer member 5; and control means 120 which executes dehumidifying control to reduce the amount of moisture vapor generated or to be generated by the heating means 16 that heats the recording material P, on the basis of the amount of change in value detected by the detection means 5b when the recording material P passes through a transfer section T in image forming operation. |
