Provided is a polarizer with which multifunctionality and high functionality of an electronic device such as an image display device can be achieved. This polarizer is configured from a resin film including a dichroic substance. In the resin film, a low dichroic-substance concentration section is provided which has a relatively low dichroic substance content. In the polarizer, the content of alkali metals and/or alkaline earth metals in the low dichroic-substance concentration section is not more than 3.6 wt%.
