Provided are a liquid crystal display apparatus and a manufacturing method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the liquid crystal display apparatus includes: a substrate which has a plurality of pixel regions; a first electrode which is formed on the substrate by each pixel region unit and includes a plurality of separated branch electrodes; a cover layer which includes side walls formed to divide the pixel regions on the substrate and a roof formed on the side walls, wherein a cavity is formed between the substrate and the cover layer; a second electrode which is formed on the lower surface of the roof; a capping layer which is formed inside the cavity to cover the first electrode on the substrate and the second electrode on the lower surface of the roof; an alignment layer which is formed on the capping layer; and a liquid crystal layer formed by injecting liquid crystal molecules into the cavity.
