<p>The device has a display (22) on which a reference object together with a tooth and/or a gingival area is represented. The reference object is provided as a dental virtual color key (10), which comprises color samples (12) that are arranged next to one another. The color samples represent a dental color (A2), where color of an image section of the tooth and/or a gingival area is compared with the represented color samples using a computer device such that the color sample that matches the color of the image section are displayed on the display.
