PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification method for separating/purifying viruses, etc., from the inside of sample liquid containing the viruses, etc., in a stable recovering rate with good reproducibility, and a method for producing the vaccine by using such the purification method. SOLUTION: This purification method for purifying the viruses or a viral antigen from the sample liquid containing the viruses or viral antigen comprises a first process of bringing the sample liquid into contact with the sintered powdery material of hydroxyapatite, having 2.0 to 11.0 m<SP>2</SP>/g specific surface area to adsorb the viruses or viral antigen to the sintered powdery material, and a second process of eluting the viruses or viral antigen from the sintered powdery material by feeding eluting liquid to the sintered powdery material.
