CONTROL ROD FOR BOILING WATER REACTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control rod for a boiling water reactor in which corrosion in a crevice structure part is restrained.

SOLUTION: The surface roughness of an inner surface 4a of a sheath 4 of a control rod whose horizontal cross-section is formed into a cross shape is decreased to 0.6 a or less in the arithmetic average height Ra prescribed by Japanese Industrial Standards JIS B 0601 by acid cleaning so that the deposition of corrosion products and the like in a crevice between the inner surface 4a of the sheath and a hafnium elliptic tube 5 in the sheath 4 can be restrained and the generation of crevice corrosion by contraction of the crevice is restrained.
