<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress average power consumption of an ONU (optical network unit) by suppressing power consumption of the ONU except in data transmission. <P>SOLUTION: A meter reading terminal includes an interface part 4 for transmitting received data to an ONU 5 and a power supply control circuit 6 for powering on/off the ONU 5.
