<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce mottle in a fixation image, in various kinds of sheets having different surface irregularities, without impairing wear resistance, such as edge wear.SOLUTION: A rotatable fixing member 41 forms a nip part T with a facing member 44, and nips a recording material, in contact with an image carrying surface of the recording material P, to heat and press it. The fixing member includes at least a surface layer 41a, an elastic layer 41b, and a base layer 41c. When a Young's modulus of the surface layer is Es(MPa), a Young's modulus of the elastic layer is Er(MPa), and thickness of the surface layer is ts(μm), peak pressure Pmax(MPa) and a durability index Du represented by Pmax=0.92×exp(0.0090×(0.59+1.6Es+18Er+7.3 ts)) and Du=ts×Es/((5.6+0.23Es+(-5.3)Er+0.9 ts)×27) satisfy Pmax≤4.1 and Du≥1.0, respectively.</p> |
