APPARATUS FOR TREATING SEAWATER USING LIMESTONE AND METHOD THEREOF

The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for treating seawater using limestone, which desulfurizes sulfur oxide contained in exhaust gas from a power plant with seawater. The apparatus comprises: a reaction unit which reacts seawater with limestone; a stirring unit which stirs seawater and limestone; an absorption unit which reacts seawater reacted in the reaction unit with sulfur oxide and desulfurizes the same; a precipitation unit which regulates the pH of desulfurized seawater by reacting desulfurized seawater with limestone and precipitates limestone to separate limestone from desulfurized seawater so as to be reused; and a oxidation unit which degasses carbon dioxide contained in desulfurized seawater. Therefore, the present invention increases the alkaline level of seawater with limestone in the reaction unit during the seawater desulfurization process for sulfur oxide contained in exhaust gas from a power plant and supplies the resultant seawater, thereby reducing the amount of seawater inputted and the time required for processing desulfurization during the seawater desulfurization process. In addition, the economic efficiency of seawater desulfurization process is enhanced by reducing chemical usage for the pH regulation for desulfurized seawater.
