546,364. Wheel tyres. BRADNEY; S. V April 19, 1941, No. 5076. [Class 144 (ii)] In a non-skid appliance wherein chains D connected to metal plates E, F are passed across the tyre tread, the chains are tensioned by a chain G tightened up by a wing nut M and comprising a set of links each of which has a hole g<SP>3</SP>, Fig. 3, to receive a screwed stud H; carried by the plate E. Instead of a head h, the stud may be attached to the plate E by an eye. The links may be made by folding sheet metal to produce an end curl g<SP>1</SP> and by making the aperture g<SP>3</SP> large enough to receive both the screwed stud and the curl of the next link. The plates E, F have pressed-in portions. bearing against the tyre to avoid injury thereto. |
