PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a vinyl polymer having two or more hydroxy groups at one terminal; to provide a method for producing a polyurethane obtained by reacting the vinyl polymer, a polyol and a polyisocyanate; and to provide a method for producing a binder for an inkjet printing ink comprising the dispersion of the polyurethane.SOLUTION: The method for producing the binder for the inkjet printing ink includes mixing a vinyl monomer (B) with a chain transfer agent (C) having a mercapto group and two or more hydroxy groups at one terminal in the presence of an active hydrogen-containing compound (A) regulated so as to have a viscosity within the range of 5-10,000 mPa s by being heated to a radical polymerization temperature within the range of 50-200°C to carry out a radical polymerization to afford the vinyl polymer (D) having the two or more hydroxy groups at one terminal, and reacting the resultant vinyl polymer (D) with the polyisocyanate (F) to produce the polyurethane (G), and mixing the polyurethane (G) with an aqueous medium (H) to cause phase inversion emulsification. |
