<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game machine capable of excellently improving the degree of attention to a game. <P>SOLUTION: When a game ball enters an upper operation port 33 and a lower operation port 34, holding information according to the operation port to which it has entered is stored in a main controller. Then, on the basis of the holding information, the variable display of symbols at a symbol display device 41 is started. Also, a holding notice reflecting the contents of the holding information is sometimes executed at the symbol display device 41. In the main controller, winning/losing determination processing is executed when starting the variable display and when a game ball enters the respective operation ports 33 and 34.
