This cell culture device uses a culture medium to culture cells, and is characterized by being provided with a replacement mechanism which replaces the culture medium inside of a culture vessel stored in a storage unit, a measurement unit which measures the pH of the culture medium inside of the culture vessel, and a command unit which gives a command for replacing the culture medium inside of the culture vessel by means of the replacement mechanism, wherein, at the time of the first culture medium replacement, the command is given if the pH measured by the measurement unit is less than a prescribed pH threshold value, and at the time of the second and following culture medium replacements, the command is given if the pH measured by the measurement unit is less than a prescribed pH threshold value and the interval for culture medium replacement since the previous time has not elapsed.
