Disclosed are a molten metal treating apparatus and a molten metal treating method that can rapidly measure an inclusion attachment state within a nozzle while working. The molten metal treating apparatus comprises: a storage container; a nozzle mounted to a steel tapping hole of the storage container; a liner made of an ion-conducting material that is installed on the inner peripheral surface of the nozzle; a power supplier for applying power to the molten metal and the liner; and a measuring instrument for measuring a voltage value or a current value between the molten metal and the liner. The molten metal treating method comprises: a step for measuring a voltage value or a current value between the molten metal and the liner; and a step for determining the thickness of an inclusion attached to an interface between the molten metal and the liner using the voltage value or the current value. |
