In the present invention, provided are a dry quenching apparatus, which has an improved structure to prevent ignition of coke caused by which external air flows inside and accordingly supplies inert gas to the inside when an air blowing part which supplies circulating gas to the inside of the dry quenching apparatus is not properly operated due to breakdown or errors, and a dry quenching method. The dry quenching apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a main body equipped with an inlet hole and an outlet hole to supply and discharge coke, and provided with a storage space for cooling red-hot coke; an air blowing part which is connected to the lower part of the main body to supply circulating gas for cooling the coke; a temperature sensing part which is installed in the main body to sense temperatures of the inside main body; and a combustion inhibiting part which supplies inert gas to the inside of the main body for the coke combustion if the temperature of the inside main body which is sensed by the temperature sensing part is higher than that of predetermined temperatures, and a dry quenching method. |
