The present invention provides a display device and a control method for the same wherein an optimal setting value for emitted light brightness for a light source is calculated in real time for each segment region. Image data is obtained by an image data acquisition unit. A target brightness, which is a target value for emitted light brightness for each segment region, is calculated by means of a target brightness calculation unit (40) on the basis of the image data obtained by the image data acquisition unit. Inverse filtering of a light emission distribution function showing light emission distribution characteristics for the light source for each segment region is acquired by an inverse filter acquisition unit (41). A setting value for emitted light brightness for the light source for each segment region is calculated by a convolution operation on the inverse filter for target brightness for each segment region by a setting value calculation unit (42). Emitted light brightness for the light source is controlled for each segment region by a light source control unit on the basis of the setting value for each segment region calculated by the setting value calculation unit. |
