<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect quench phenomenon of a superconducting magnet accurately in the early stage.SOLUTION: In order to detect quench of a superconducting magnet consisting of a series connection of superconducting coils (L1, L2), a passive quench detection method includes first (N-1) leads (13) connected with joints between the superconducting coils, a second lead (14) connected between reference resistors, a voltage detecting section (16) provided between the first and second leads, and a detecting section (5) for determining that quench is detected when the absolute value of the detection value from the voltage detecting section goes above a threshold Vref. The detection value in the voltage detecting section is set substantially zero in the normal state where quench phenomenon is not occurring.</p> |
