<p>The present invention relates to a device and a method for managing a battery, capable of controlling cell-balancing of an individual battery cell by identifying a state of the individual battery cell in battery packs in which multiple battery cells are connected in series. The device comprises: at least one or more battery packs in which multiple battery cells are connected in series; a cell balancing unit to perform individually cell-balancing of the battery cells; a voltage detecting unit to detect the entire voltage of the battery pack or individually select the battery cells to detect a voltage of an individual battery cell; and a control unit to calculate a reference voltage by total current integration obtained by using the detected entire voltage of the battery packs, and to control the cell balancing unit to perform cell balancing of the battery cell having a detected voltage greater than the reference voltage by comparing the calculated reference voltage and the detected voltage of the individual battery cell.</p> |
