<p>A precipitation tank has a cylindrical reaction chamber within an annular settling chamber. The settling chamber includes one or more helical plates that provide a plurality of helical channels within the settling chamber. In a method of treating water, solids are caused or allowed to precipitate from feed water in a first reaction zone to produce precipitated solids and a first effluent. The first effluent is divided into partial streams which flow obliquely upwards through a second reaction zone at a velocity such that precipitated solids fall relative to the first effluent partial streams.</p> |
