PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a parallax image capable of displaying a stereoscopic image that is easy to view without varying greatly a feeling of project and a feeling of depth.SOLUTION: A stereoscopic image processing apparatus 100 acquires an input parallax image and photographing conditions for the image, acquires a distance to a nearest point in a photogenic subject, acquires observation conditions for a stereoscopic image and acquires an acceptable parallax range corresponding to the observation conditions. Horizontal shift amounts of an output parallax image relative to an input parallax image on a display screen and display parameters including display magnification are calculated so that an infinite point of a three-dimensional space reproduced from the output parallax image displayed on a stereoscopic display device matches a limit value at a depth side in the acceptable parallax range and the nearest point matches the limit value at a projection side in the acceptable parallax range. Further the input parallax image is subjected to image processing using the display parameters to generate the output parallax image. |
