During a press operation, curved points of a significant shape on a position-weight graph are detected. A curved point detecting device comprises: a detecting means which detects a data stream of pressurized positions and weights at the pressurized positions; an input memory means which inputs and memorizes a weight value, a weight slope value, and a slope value of the weight slope used as reference values for determining when it is desired to stop or determine; a slope calculating means which calculates a weight slope value based on the detected pressurized positions and weights at the pressurized positions; a slope value of a weight slope calculating means which calculates a slope value of the weight slope based on the calculated weight slope value; and a determining means which compares the calculated slope value of the weight slope with the value used as the reference values to determine whether to stop or determine.
