The present invention relates to the technical field of communications, and particularly to a method and device for reporting channel state information and determining a modulation and coding scheme, which are used for solving the technical problem in the prior art of insufficient accuracy when an MCS of a downlink subframe is determined. In the embodiments of the present invention, a user equipment determines at least one piece of channel state information and then reports to a network-side device some or all the channel state information in the at least one piece of channel state information determined, so as to enable the channel state information reported to the network-side device to contain channel state information meeting demands of the network-side device, so that the accuracy of the network-side device when determining the MCS of the downlink subframe can be improved.
