Title cpds. of formula (I) (where X is O or S, n is 0 or 1, R' and R" are 3-5C alkyl and R is not >7C alkoxyalkyl, alkylmercaptoalkyl or alkenoxyalkyl, 3-6c alkenyl, benzyl or halo-, methyl- and/or methoxy-benzyl when X is O, 3-6C alkenyl, benzyl or halo-, methyl- and/or methoxy-benzyl when X is S), which bring about defoliation of plants (generally accompanied by an acceleration of ripening) are prepared by successively reacting R-X-P(O)nCl2 with R'SH and R"SH or by reacting Cl-P(O)n(SR')(SR") with R-XH in the presence of a tertiary amine. |
