The present invention provides a light guard assembly suitable for a window covering system comprising: at least one side channel section; at least one end channel section, and; at least one corner block section, where each of the side and end channel sections comprise a front frame section and a rear frame section each having a cross sectional profile adapted for geometrically mating with each other so that together they form a generally U-shaped channel adapted to accommodate an edge of a blind member; where each corner block section is adapted for insertion between the front and rear frame sections of the side channel section and the end channel section to form a transition region between the side and end channel sections; and, wherein the front frame sections of the side and end channel sections form a first type of join at the transition region and the rear frame sections of the side and end channel sections form a second type of join at the transition region.
