A balloon catheter (1) comprises and elongated catheter (2) and an inflatable balloon (7) releasably and sealably mounted on the catheter (2) with the catheter (2) extending through the balloon (7). A proximal end of the balloon (7) is sealably secured to a proximal tubular member (20) terminating in a socket (25), which sealably engages a sealing disc (30) sealably and rigidly secured to the catheter (2). A distal end of the balloon (7) is sealably secured to a distal tubular member (22), which releasably and sealably engages a distal end of the catheter (2). The proximal and distal tubular members (20) and (22) are slidably engageable with the catheter (2) to facilitate engaging and disengaging with balloon (7) from the catheter (2). |
