PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably detect a surface state of a fixing belt accurately.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a fixing apparatus 6 which includes two rollers including a fixing roller 64, a fixing belt 64 stretched on the two rollers, and a pressure roller 63 which moves between a pressure position in contact with a surface of a portion of the fixing belt 61 stretched on the fixing roller 64 and a retreat position retreated from the pressure position, conveys a recording sheet S with a toner image transferred thereto held with the above portion and the pressure roller 63 located at the pressure position, and fixes the toner image on the recording sheet S; and an optical sensor 200 which irradiates a surface of a portion of the fixing belt 61 stretched on a roller (heating roller 62) other than the fixing roller 64 out of the three rollers with light, and receives reflected light. |
