Certain techniques for reducing power consumption involve the use of spin waves; however, there have been no concrete proposals relating to spin wave generation, spin wave detection, and information latching techniques. A device in which a laminate having a fine-line shape and comprising a first ferromagnetic layer and a non-magnetic layer is used and an electric field is applied to a first electrode of a non-magnetic body, whereby spin waves are generated in a first ferromagnetic layer, and the phase or amplitude of the spin waves propagated within the first ferromagnetic layer is detected according to the magnetoresistance effect using a second electrode of a ferromagnetic body. |
