[Classes 54 and 69 (i).] A sealing disc for gas or liquid containers comprises a number of sections provided with suitable sealing means, the outer sections being formed by segments so connected as to permit horizontal angular displacement relatively to one another only and the circumferential length of the disc remaining constant. Figs. 1 and 2 show a disc comprising a circular portion D connected by a water seal to a number of segmental float portions S which are hinged together at points H and are connected by a material G allowing a certain amount of displacement, such as leather, rubber, sailcloth, or corrugated sheet metal. The floats S carry relatively slidable overlapping packing members R engaging the wall B of the container. Fig. 5 shows another construction in which the disc comprises a number of hinged float portions S carrying overlapping leaves J held together in the centre by a bolt. The holes through which the bolt passes are sufficiently large to allow displacement of the leaves, escape of the gas or liquid being prevented by a large head on the bolt.
