A temporal section that is defined by boundary images is determined in a video sequence. A maximum of k stable image frames are determined in the temporal section of image frames having a lowest temporal activity. Image fingerprints are computed from the determined stable image frames. A mega-frame image fingerprint data structure is constituted from the computed fingerprints and the data structure is stored in memory for use of fingerprint based content identification.
