According to the present invention, an internal combustion engine is provided with a plurality of cylinders, air intake valves (31) provided to the plurality of cylinders, and a variable valve mechanism (600) for varying the valve properties of the air intake valves (31). A motor (210) drives the variable valve mechanism (600). A motor controller (150) controls the motor (210). The internal combustion engine can operate in a cylinder-stop mode for keeping the air intake valves (31) of some of the plurality of cylinders in a closed state. When the internal combustion engine is restored from the cylinder-stop mode, the motor controller (150) executes an overlap adjustment process for controlling the valve properties so that no overlap occurs between open time frames of the air intake valves (31) among the cylinders. |
