Provided is a multilayer ceramic capacitor that can indicate the direction in which to mount same on a circuit board. This multilayer ceramic capacitor (10) contains a laminate (12) provided with the following: an inner-layer section (14) that has ceramic dielectric layers (18) and internal electrodes (20); and outer-layer sections (16) comprising ceramic dielectric layers (22). External electrodes (30) that are connected to the internal electrodes (20) are formed on the ends of the laminate (12). The primary component of the inner-layer section (14) is a perovskite compound that can be represented by the formula ABO3. The outer-layer sections (16) contain first outer layers (22a) and second outer layers (22b), which contain oxides having different primary components. Boundary-reaction layers (24) are formed between the first outer layers (22a) and the second outer layers (22b). First ceramic dielectric layers (26) outside the boundary-reaction layers (24) and second ceramic dielectric layers (28) inside the boundary-reaction layers (24) are different colors.
